Open for Windows

Download a demo copy now!!! Get the latest Update October 09

Please note, the current versions of OpenW will not run under Windows Vista (64 bit) or Windows 7 (64 bit).

If you install Windows Virtual Machine (a free download from Microsoft) and a copy of Windows XP and then install the program within that Virtual Machine environment, the program will operate correctly.

OpenW has been designed to help in the scoring of competitions for all ISSF, Service Pistol, Service 25, WA1500 and Black Powder matches. (including the 4 common Black Powder International matches.) The 2005 version also includes 5 ISSF Rifle matches.

Features include being able to enter scores as either 5 or 10 shot totals or as single shots. The program calculates totals automatically and sorts the results into order allowing for Shoot Offs or Countbacks. Scores can be entered using just a single keystroke, making this method of data entry faster than any calculator.

Scoring of 'Finals' is also possible in OpenW. Print a 'notice' for listing the Finalists in a match, along with any comments about the Final. The 2005 version now allows for 20 shot finals in Rapid Fire and Sport Pistol.

All the current Pistol Australia grades are included along with provision for Open, Disabled, Junior, Veteran, International and 'Ungraded' competitors. There is even a report to list all the current grading scores for easy reference. (Yes, the 2005 version has the new Pistol Australia grades for Rapid Fire for any new competition created after 1 Jan 2005.)

Reports can be printed to 'RTF' files for importing into most word processing software, or to Excel spreadsheets. OpenW makes it easier to send results to your State Association or magazine, even email results to AusPistol with just 3 mouse clicks without leaving the OpenW program.

Keep the results of past competitions on your computer so they can be accessed by the program within seconds. No more copying files around, OpenW can change to another 'competition' quickly and easily. Data files may be backed up or restored from floppy disk at any time while still in the program.

OpenW caters for teams events as well as the usual aggregates along with a 'custom aggregate' that may be changed at any time to suit any combination of matches. A new feature is an additional Junior Aggregate and Junior Air Team that totals the Junior Air scores based on the first 40 shots of the match. This allows combinations of Junior Men and Junior Women into the aggregate or team score.

OpenW can import text files from the RIKA air pistol scoring system into the database. The details on the Rika settings are available by selecting the Help Screen in the OpenW program.

Reporting of First, Second and Third places (configurable to any placing) in grades makes the work involved with trophy presentations a breeze. Now you can export the placegetters to a text file - ready to mail merge onto formatted place cards using your word processor software.

Tied scores and Grade breaks are indicated on the screen and in the reports, with grade scores and grade names that can be changed by the user.

Squadding information can be entered into the program for competitors so full range squadding and individual squadding cards printed. An alternate format of the squadding card includes the competitors name and address printed ready to be folded into window faced envelopes... no more hand writing all those squadding envelopes - OR - simply email the Squadding back to competitor in just a couple of mouse clicks.

Squadding can also be checked for conflicts with other competitors for Range and Bay allocations and also for squadding times that may clash with other events for an individual competitor. This information is available in a new report in OpenW. (Sorry, OpenW can't do the squadding but it can check it.)

Don't like using the mouse for everything? Thats ok, the 'quick' keystrokes from the old DOS program do the same things in OpenW. Type the competitors number or first few letters of their surname to quickly find the competitor, press 'enter' to go to the score sheet, single keystroke entry of shots, F10 to save scores and we are ready to find the next shooter... too easy.

Convert competitions from the old Dos version of OPEN into Open for Windows.

Some of the many features of the OpenW Program include:

  • Produce Mailing Labels for postage.
  • Full on screen displays of names and scores.
  • Record Squadding for Squadding Forms and Range Lists.
  • Record and total a competitors score faster than any calculator. (Individual Totals, Match Results and Aggregates are instantly updated.)
  • Full Results and Reports for Individuals or Teams. (Team Totals or Averages.) Countbacks and Shoot Offs are also considered.
  • Flexibility in reports. Report by Grades or Off Gun results. Suitable for Graded or 'Open' competitions.
  • Custom Aggregate. Select the Events (any combination is possible) and get instant results. This may be changed at any time.
  • Report options to only print the Place Getters (configurable) in all grades for a Presentation List.
  • Grade Breaks indicated in Results sheets. Grade scores and 'names' may be altered in case of changes.
  • Produce a summary of grades for each event to help in trophy ordering.
  • Data may be backed up to floppy disk at any time from within the program.
  • No more DOS printer problems, OpenW uses your default windows printer.
