Update of OpenW for existing users.
Users are encouraged to check this page regularly for news and the latest updates for their software.
Latest Update - June 2008
Download the Update.zip (a 1.63meg file) and save it to your hard disk under the C:\OPENW folder. Then, once the download is complete, 'unzip' the Update.zip file into the C:\OPENW folder, and overwrite the existing openw.mdb file.
Please note : The OpenW update files will be looking for the demo data when it first runs. You can then select your other competition files from the Options, Select Competition buttons.
If you need to, you can download the demo.exe file (140k) to your hard disk then run the self extracting file and save the demo files into the C:\OPENW\DEMO folder.
If you have trouble downloading the full update file (1.53meg), please try this alternative download Update.zip
Otherwise, please let me know at auspistol@auspistol.com.au and I can email it back to you. Thanks Bruce.
Update History
8 June 2008 - Version June08
Plot shot position for Finals for 50m & Air on screen display.
Continuous Scoreboard displays (with Teams) for spectators.
Print ID Tags with Squaddng for competitors.
Record & print 'Revolver' or 'Semi Auto' for WA1500 results
Option to keep current Range and Detail squadding information when creating a new competitions.
11 June 2007 - Version June07b
Reformatted screens to allow for thicker 'borders' when running under Vista.
Quick selection of Shooter when using 'continuously numbered' Air targets - just enter the target number into the main screen and the system will find the matching shooter. Useful when batches of 10 targets are handed back in to the score shed, now there is no need to have the competitors name on each batch. (Of course the 'starting number' of the targets needs to be entered against the competitor - can be done on the 'enter scores' screen then the first batch of targets are scored.)
Program will now force the entry of the password to start the program.
24 May 2007 - Version May07c
Error with Service / Srv Unres - scoring screens were 'corrupted' and crashed program, fixed now.
Reformatted Entry screen - hopefully easier and faster to add new Entries.
Also redesigned 'Competition Options' into more logical sections.
13 May 2007 - Version May07
Sorted out some small issues with Finals that were caused by the 'Grouped Events' feature - it didn't know which final to show.
Fixed the occasion printing error when selecting the 'Current Page' button when previewing reports.
Added a couple of new 'score sheet' reports with only 2 shooters per page - handy for those small 'B5' sized folders sometimes used by the scorers.
Provision to record malfunction information when entering scores.
And yes, the OpenW Backup routine is still a problem. Please use Windows Explorer to make backups of all the files in the Competition folder to USB drive or floppy disk when required.
15 March 2007 - Version March07
Tired of swapping from CF to WSP or JSP ? (Or in the 'Air' or 'Service' matches) Not any more... Try the 'Grouped Events' on Scores screen. (Especially handy when entering scores in 'squadding order'.)
(Please note, this sometimes shows a 'compile error' but it will continue working ok, I am trying to fix it but it only shows up occasionally and it does not seem to cause any problems - it worked for our Brisbane Open last weekend without any worries.)
Printing all the results as per individual match format - handy to give to the Referees at the end of the Competition.(In the Reports / Scores section)
Backups still a problem, best to use Explorer as detailed below.
4 March 2007 - Version March07
Expanded width of Totals display on WA1500 score screen.
Corrected placings print on 2x2 Place card report.
Tidied up 'tab' order for Entry Fees screen.
Record full cheque details for deposit slip when banking entry fees. (Bank Deposit Slip report still in development...)
24 Feb 2007 - Version Jan 07b
Possible problems with 'internal backup' routine - temporarily removed.
Please use windows Explorer to 'manually' copy files from competition folder to disk or USB drive.
28 Jan 2007 - Version Jan 07b
WA 1500 match Results Report tidied up - removed blank lines.
Additional 'presentation card' format of 4 per A4 page.
12 Jan 2007 - Version Jan 07
WA 1500 match added.
Allowance for upto 3 shootoffs per grade.
Possibility of 4 shooters tied for 1st. A winner is determined on first shootoff but other shooters may have to continue in a second shootoff for remaining places if they tied in the first 5 shots. A 'single' shootoff field would have had second and third place higher than first due to higher totals in the shootoff.
Revised 'viewer' for TV display of instant results. (As used at Melb Comm Games.)
Fixed a posible error that may have forced the program to shut down when creating new competitions.
Details may be sorted by squadding order for entering scores.
Page Up or Page Down keys now save and move to next or previous shooter when entering scores - makes it easier when entering scores in 'detail' order.
9 Nov 2005 - Version 5.04
Updated 'Mailing Labels' screens. (Under 'Entries' or 'Reports' section.)
30 March 2005 - Version 5.03e
